Office 365 Home on more than 5 pc?

Question

So once again I am fixing a family members computer.  Now, I have a O365 home subscription which allows for installation on up to 5 computers and 5 mobile devices.

It is currently installed on my Mac, a VM, a Win8.1 laptop, and my parents computer.  I'll give my family member one but I would also like to keep one for future use.

How do I add on subscriptions to allow for more than 5 installs?  I don't need to move up from 365 home to business.  I am confused.

You would have to move to either a Pro or ProPlus subscription rather than Home. Home maxes out at 5 users.

How can I convert my account from Home to Pro?  Would I have to cancel my home subscription first and than buy the Pro one?

Why do you need one on a VM? Just remove it from that.

It is installed on a win7 vm for when I need to boot into it on my rMBP.

you can see this article regarding the switching into a different plan: https://support.office.com/en-gb/article/Switch-to-a-different-Office-365-plan-or-subscription-73318661-8f33-478b-bcc7-fb8d69dbb22a?ui=en-US&rs=en-GB&ad=GB

Normally you do that by using a wizard, if your plan is supported; in your case, the version your are using isn't on the supported page: https://support.office.com/en-gb/article/Why-cant-I-switch-plans-e81e09d2-cd52-4212-8550-5405864b6d62#__switch_plans_manually_1

so you have to call the billing support and explain the situation; most likely they will cancel your subscription, refund the rest of the money so you can create a new subscription on a new plan.

Also it can be more cheaper to buy a second home plan (so you get more 5 licenses) then to upgrade into a new plan, really depends on the price of the licenses; please consider this.

Looks like those links are for O365 business.  I may just pick up another home plan.

yes, because there is no upgrade path from a home edition into a professional one; also that's why i said that you can call the billing support to see if it compensates to upgrade or just buy another plan with a different email address.
