Kotaku: Xbox One gets price cut in China

Recommended Posts

Despite good early sales, the system is having problems, and now with the looming PlayStation 4, Microsoft and its retail vendors have resorted to dropping the price of the console.

Microsoft has dropped the price of the Xbox One console with Kinect and the Xbox One without Kinect by 500 RMB ($80). The Original launch prices for the Xbox One in China were 4,299 RMB for a special day one launch unit with Kinect and 3,699 RMB without. The consoles launched with two free games. The new prices for the Xbox One in China are 3,799 RMB with Kinect and 3,199 RMB without. The day one edition is still priced at 4,299.

Roughly doing a currency conversation in my head (RMB to GBP was roughly 10% a few years back) the prices look set to match those of the UK so I think this is only fair really. All counties should receive the same price slash regardless of whether sales are good or not.

Now if only we could get similar prices to the US :)

I presume this was just done so that the ps4 wouldn't be undercutting them as much. I think Sony announced their price to be a fair amount lower than Xbox and one would hope Microsoft learned their lesson from the rest of the world about trying to sell their console at a much higher price point.

I really hope MS reduce their prices in India. They are ######ing insane compared to prices in US/EU. It can't all be just taxes when they cost almost double.

I dunno about India but I've heard places like Brazil have ridiculously inflated prices due to taxes. But then places like Australia just get price-gouged like crazy.

The $350 Xbox One (sans Kinect) equivalent in India is ?35,000. That is just insane.
