blank
ESHAWAR, Pakistan ? Uniformed militants attacked a school, killing at least 126 people and taking hostages on Tuesday, according to an official. "The gunmen entered class by class and shot some kids one by one," a student who was in the school at the time told local media. Provincial official Bahramand Khan said at least 126 people were killed and 122 injured. More than 100 of the dead were school children, he added. The Pakistani Taliban claimed responsibility for the assault. Commandos were sent to the scene and exchanged fire with gunmen who entered the Army Public School in Peshawar. Five "heavy" explosions were heard from the school at around 5 a.m. ET. The Pakistani military later said four Taliban militants had been killed. About 500 students and teachers were believed to be inside the site when gunfire erupted, although it was unclear how many remained inside the school. A military source who spoke on the condition of anonymity told NBC News that there were at least 10 attackers wearing police uniforms and suicide vests. "They burnt a teacher in front of the students in a classroom," he added. "They literally set the teacher on fire with gasoline and made the kids watch." Some child hostages were thought to be held at gunpoint by militants in the school's main auditorium. The military-run school has students in grades one through 10. Wounded student Abdullah Jamal told The Associated Press he was getting first-aid instructions and training with a team of Pakistani army medics when the violence began for real. When the shooting started, Jamal said nobody knew what was going on in the first few seconds. "Then I saw children falling down who were crying and screaming. I also fell down. I learned later that I have got a bullet," he said, speaking from his hospital bed. He had been shot in the leg. "We were standing outside the school and firing suddenly started and there was chaos everywhere and the screams of children and teachers," said Jamshed Khan, a school bus driver. A security official who spoke on the condition of anonymity said two helicopter gunships had also been sent to the site, but could not fire because students and teachers were still inside the school building. Television images showed anxious parents gathering on the street near the school, as gunfire and explosions were heard nearby. The Pakistani Taliban has vowed to attack government targets as it fights off a huge army operation in the country's tribal region. Taliban spokesman Muhammad Umar Khorasani told Reuters his group was responsible for the attack. "Our suicide bombers have entered the school, they have instructions not to harm the children, but to target the army personnel," he said. Reuters and The Associated Press contributed to this report. http://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/pakistan-school-attack-taliban-militants-kill-126-peshawar-take-hostages-n269011

So they wanted to target army personnel and go for a school full of children and staff? With suicide vests? /facepalm

Duffydemon
Pakistan is blaming this on India by #stopindianterrorisminpak on twitter. Seriouslly??? Even this stuff is being blamed on India? Dont you guys take responsibility ever? Talibanis killed those kids. How come India has to do anything with it. Deal with your problems, rather than blaming everything on us. When you say Pakistan do you mean the official government of Pakistan or a few uninformed people? I am saddened to hear this and the scary thing is that this isn't the last of it - the Taliban, or whoever is responsible, aren't going to stop. We hear this kind of news week in week out and the people behind these attacks don't give a s--t. No humanity whatsoever. They can't hide behind religion and justify their actions so it's their backward ideology that they're protecting or enforcing. Decebalvs Rex
I can understand the "usual slaughter" , especially in countries in development but executing kids? chrisj1968
so much for the religion of islam. so much loooove. Some news outlets are saying the attacks were due to the young packistani girl that was shot and moved to the UK for fighting for rights of women/girls to get an education.. she got a nobel peace prize. others are saying the Taliban did this due to the military having shot their wives and kids in revenge. either way, this is deplorable garwin 1 Share

Did they open the Quran, Bible or whatever holy book and saw "go shoot innocents if they go against your ideology"... or whatever similar? Actually yes, the Taliban is a fundamentalist religious group with the weapons and money to force their will on others. To them, if you're not a Muslim by their strict definition of the term, you're an infidel dog worthy of death. You want to educate your women? Infidel. You want to let your little girls grow up without chopping off their clitoris? Infidel. You want to let people of other faiths live their life in peace? Infidel. You think women shouldn't be required to wear a full body jet black dress in countries where daytime temperatures top 100 degrees? Infidel. These pukes aren't freedom fighters, they're not even terrorists, they're lunatics who need to be exterminated, just like ISIS, before they motivate and/or orchestrate more attacks like this one or what just happened in Sydney. It's only a matter of time before the western world gets targeted directly again. They're already rioting and taking over territory in European countries, conducting "Muslim Patrols" to harass citizens for holding hands in public if they walk down the wrong street, chopping off the head of a British soldier in broad daylight, etc. Islam in general, whether you're arab, white, black, asian, etc., is a danger to civilized society, and people are too afraid of being called a bigot or politically incorrect to admit it. guru 1 Share
