I kind of want to get MGSV Ground Zeroes but I'm hesitent to experience "new coke" post-David Hayter's Snake.

It is a shame David Hayter isn't in MGSV but Kiefer Sutherland does a good job.

Plus while the game is pretty short. It is really good.

because it's a prologue to MGS: TPP. Now that's the one I'm expecting to be released!

Is 60% off a good point to buy a game, or is more likely to come off? There's some good deals on games i want but in the interest of saving money on games i probably won't play much if i can get away with more off then i can wait.

Generally the best time to buy games from a Steam Sale is when they are one of the daily specials, either one of the featured deals, 12 hour deals, or community choice deals. Those deals are the lowest a game will go on sale for during this sale, so wait for it to be one of those deals up until the last day. If it doesn't go on one of those deals and it's the last day, than buy it if you want it at its current discount.

Almost every Steam sale price is beaten by the regular prices on DLCompare.com

Steam sales, therefore, are generally still a waste of money.

These days I just put the games I really want to play on my wishlist so I'm alerted when they go on sale (although that feature seems to not have been working for a while), and don't buy anything else, in particular I don't buy games just because they're cheap.

For Dark Souls 2 I'm waiting for the remastered PC version coming next year. All I really want right now is Geometry Wars 3 and Dragon Age: Inquisition to go on sale.

It works on and off. It seems like when there are random sales you get an email, but during sale events you don't.

I do the same thing though, don't buy it because it's cheap, buy it because you actually want to play it.

Woot. I'm hoping for good deals on Rogue Legacy and Shovel Knight. I'm craving some 2D action.

Yes! Shovel KNight, thanks for the reminder *adds to wishlist*

Only buy if you want to play now. Else don't waste your money, sales happen every two months now.

Too true. Unless you find an amazingly cheap deal, or a pricing error  :D

Same. ALtrhough I have like 30 games on my list so I get an email almost every day.

So what have people purchased so far? I got a copy of revengeance. Black Flag is $12.50, so that is tempting me at them moment.

picked up a copy of MGS Ground Zero since im a mega MGS fan and the good quality port is nice!

:( so this game has one main level and a few side missions. Its a prologue to Phantom pain with like 1 hour max. Jesus!

You weren't aware it was so short?

Side note: I bought Black Flag.

It's mostly playable. Some performance issues here and there but nowhere near as damning as Unity.

I'd be careful buying something until you're pretty sure the price is as low as it will go. I've noticed that some titles' prices have fluctuated. For example, Borderlands 2 went from $9.99 to $16.49.
