Halo: MCC players to get free month XBL Gold, ODST Campaign, H2:A content

Recommended Posts

Last month, I promised the Halo and Xbox community that addressing the matchmaking issues and other bugs impacting players? experience with Halo: The Master Chief Collection was our #1 priority. We?ve been working around the clock deploying weekly content updates and numerous server-side adjustments that have shown good results and we?re encouraged by the feedback we?re hearing from you. Another big challenge was met when we added fan-favorite playlists, such as SWAT and Halo: CE, back to our matchmaking menu and we plan to add more soon. Next week, we?ll release a content update that will add all 10 episodes of the cooperative experience ?Spartan Ops? for Halo 4, and will address other issues. I assure you that the team will continue to work on additional content updates to further improve the all-up gameplay experience.

This has been a humbling experience and highlighted how we as a studio can ? and need ? to do better for Xbox fans around the world. We are so grateful to our fans who have stood by our side and we appreciate all of your patience as we worked through these issues. As a token of our appreciation and to thank fans for the continued support and understanding, we will be offering the following items, for free, to anyone who has played Halo: The Master Chief Collection online since launch (11.11.14) through today (12.19.14).*

?1 Month of Xbox Live Gold

?Exclusive In-Game Nameplate

?Exclusive In-Game Avatar

* For specifics on eligibility and further details on the offer, visit the FAQ here.

Additionally, you?ve told us that you want more Halo 2: Anniversary multiplayer map content and Halo 3: ODST on Xbox One. As a future bonus, we?re going to make these happen and give them to you for free. We are just now starting work with our partners to bring both to Halo: The Master Chief Collection and will share more specific details on timing in the coming months. But for now, here?s what you can expect:

?Halo 3: ODST Campaign ? Development has just started on the campaign for Halo 3: ODST, which will be available within Halo: The Master Chief Collection, and upgraded to 1080p resolution, running at 60fps. It will be available for free to anyone who has played Halo: The Master Chief Collection since launch (11.11.14) through today (12.19.14).* Thanks to our friends at Bungie for creating the original ?Halo 3: ODST? campaign.

??Relic? Halo 2: Anniversary Multiplayer Map ? Available via a free content update to Halo: The Master Chief Collection, we will reimagine the fan-favorite map ?Relic,? fully remastered and running at 1080p resolution and 60fps. We chose this map based on its suitability for Slayer and Objective modes and its ability to support teams of varying sizes. And you can trust that Certain Affinity will tune and tweak the map to make it even better than you remember.

The satisfaction and joy of our fans is absolutely critical to everyone at 343 Industries and we regret the issues and the frustration you have endured. We are truly sorry and thank you for your continued patience and support of the Halo franchise.

Sincerely,

Bonnie Ross

Head of 343 Industries

By "Play online" do they mean that I have to have played an MP map, or is it enough to have played the campaign while logged in to Live?

1Content and 1 month of Xbox Live Gold will be provided to all players of the ?Halo: The Master Chief Collection? game on any day from launch on November 11, 2014 through December 19, 2014 at 11:59 pm PST (all Gamertags that have logged activity in the game via Xbox Live during this period will be eligible). Xbox Live Gold will be delivered as early as mid-January 2015. Offer is non-transferable

Well 343 seems to be on the right track. So far, many are reporting that MP is good now for them, so while its not perfect yet, its much better. My personal experience reflects that with consistant access now to MP.

After offering us this content and taking action internally, I think 343 is on a good path going forward.

does anyone think they'll do reach next? if they did that i'd get a xbone, having every halo game on one console would be sweet.

With Halo 5 on the way soon'ish, when would you do  Reach?  And I don't see why, no MC is that one so for them I don't know if they feel the need to do HD remake.

I'd love to see a Xbone version of Reach, one of the better games in the series IMO (Along with ODST)

It's more of an issue of time management, 343 don't have all the time in the world, and they're already making both the ODST port and H5.

I went on MCC multiplayer last night and it's still train wreck. The ranking system probably annoyed me the most how you only have a rank in Halo 2 Anniversary. They should of made xp based and all game modes earned you xp not one game mode has a rank and everything else doesn't matter.

Also if anyone is interested in achievements, you can boot up Spartan Ops on Legendary select a weapon and quit and it will class as you have completed it solo Legendary for that mission. I only just found out about it.

So far my biggest issue (only recently started playing MCC) is that when I pause Halo: Combat Evolved it just stops responding to input. End up having to reset the game. It's especially annoying for Coop since you don't start at checkpoints (unless I've missed something). :|

343 needs to focus and fix Halo and show they can actually make a game worthy of the Halo title.

Reach should not be anywhere on their radar until then.

You do start at checkpoints, but how often they show up depends on how you play. If you clear every room, you'll get a checkpoint in every room pretty much.

ODST was the first one I never finished.  I'd consider buying the set sometime for that.

ODST was probably one of the best Halo games too i think, it's short but well worth playing!

I'd just lost interest completely in console gaming by then.  I really like my X1 atm but give it four or so years and I'll probably never even turn it on.

Say what you will about Halo 4 MP, though I liked big team battle quite a lot.  The Halo 4 SP is solid, and I'd say 343i showed they can make a good Halo game with it.  Of course, it's a game, and like everything you might not like it, but I did, just as much as the original 3 SPs.

When launching Halo: CE on with two players it states "While playing co-op, you will start at the beginning of the mission instead of point saved. Are you sure you want to continue?". :|

Hm... odd, I wonder if that's MCC. I pretty distinctly remember that not being a problem in the original one.

That's how it was when i played through on split screen co-op, you couldn't just quit half way through a mission unless you wanted to start it again.

Ugh, ODST was an abomination. It was just horrid and really shouldn't have even had the Halo name on it.

As for adding Reach, that probably wouldn't impact 343i or Halo 5. They have been working on Halo 5 this whole time. They hired out Certain Affinity, Ruffian Games, Saber Interactive, Blur Studio, and United Front Games to do the Halo Master Chief Collection. We already know they (343i) nailed it with Halo 4 (their only game so far), so no doubt they will do really well with Halo 5.

First person I've heard say anything like this

They did? I found H4 quite boring and tedious. Given the time difference they had an opportunity to make many changes but most of the weaponary in the game was the same as previously and very little new additions were added.
