Upgrades to current build. Want your thoughts

Here is what I have so far. I'm trying to stay under 600 if possible. I'm unsure about the motherboard since the reviews on newegg seem abit bad but idk.. Is there any conflict from the parts I picked out? I'm trying to stay with the black and white theme..

  1. NZXT Technologies KRAKEN X60 Premium 280MM Ultra Performance Liquid CPU Cooler
  2. Intel Core i5-4670K Haswell Quad-Core 3.4GHz LGA 1150 84W Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics BX80646I54670K
  3. MSI Z97S SLI Krait Edition LGA 1150 Intel Z97 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
  4. Kingston HyperX FURY 16GB (2x8GB) 1600MHz DDR3 CL10 DIMM - White (HX316C10FWK2/16)
  5.  Kingston HyperX FURY 16GB Kit (2x8GB) 1600MHz DDR3 CL10 DIMM - Black (HX316C10FBK2/16)

Is there a specific reason why you're going with a liquid cooling?

Also, I would drop 16gb of ram and go with an i7 processor.  The increase from 16gb to 32gb isn't going to be as noticeable as an increase from one processor family to another.

You going to use an open case to show off the black and white components?

Water Cooling is a bit excessive unless you plan to overclock the system a fair amount.

As for conflicts the motherboard will accept the processor and ram no problem.

For openers, unless you REALLY need it, losing liquid cooling would save you some cash that could be used elsewhere, psu or case or some other benefit. As awsome as liquid cooling is, unless you're going to overclock, you'd be ok with stock air cooling and decent thermal paste.

(I run a hex core rig and even gaming on extreme settings <starcraft2> or ultra most everything else, my system runs just fine)

If you need further assurance, I have 2 - 8 year old dual core rigs that are running like clockwork, they're air cooled also.

Just my 2 cents, you do what you prefer, it's your rig :)

That liquid cooling system is very expensive, unless you found it somewhere on great sale?  Also, Ram alone comes to over $300 if I'm not mistaken.  The hardware you listed has a cost closer to $1000, at least according to sites I'm seeing.

for the  liquid cooling system the price is around 90.. I'm not sure how that is too expensive o.O  is jumping from core i5 to i7 that noticeable? I figure With Haswell i5 would do the job. I work with tons of apps open which why I thought 32GB would help me plenty.

I saw the setup online for $300 but $90 is a much better price.  I've worked and gamed on systems with both 16 and 32gb of ram and the difference was never noticeable.  I would definitely go up to i7 and what you can also do is look up some reviews.

hey, if you can afford it, go for the liquid cooling! just make sure that your case can handle that gigantic 280mm radiator.

yeah, these days 16GB is a good amount. The most ive ever used on my system at home was like 6GB. That being said, if youre running programs that will use 32GB then go for it - encoding, photoshop, et al.

Kingston HyperX FURY 16GB (2x8GB) 1600MHz DDR3 CL10 DIMM - White (HX316C10FWK2/16)

Amazing -- I have nearly the same memory in my new desktop, except it supposedly goes to 1866 Mhz.

Isn't it better to wait a couple of months for Broadwell desktop CPUs? Also Skylake should be out next years as well (but Intel will likely push it back to the year after just as usual).

Thats before they no longer make it and people are charging high prices for it. i think newegg has it in stock. Last time i checked it was out. I'm not really aiming for a gaming machine at the moment ..

I feel like there's no point of catching up.. always something every couple months

if we actually knew a release date then i'd suggest waiting; however, that could be 1 month or 6 months. Why wait when Broadwell is basically just a die shrink of Haswell?

Skylake is going to be a completely new architecture, but you're looking at an August/September release date...

But the 4670K is only ~50% faster. I'd just upgrade the RAM (if your mobo can handle 32GB) and wait.

Even die shrinks bring performance improvements so it could be worth the wait, also the previous prices drop as well so you can get better deals on previous CPUs (h)as well.
