+Red King Subscriber² Posted December 27, 2014 Subscriber² Share Posted December 27, 2014 I noticed some issues with this Modem/Router (as do others), 1. Some devices loose connectivity 2. The thing restarts from time to time (overheat?) I am also under the assumption that C1000A is not the best at networking speed either. Other more witty individuals propose using C1000A as a Modem only and hook up a "better" router to it as a solution. Household can have around 7 devices at once and maybe a few security cameras and network storage in the future. This seems complicated though (setting up "Transparent Bridging"?) - any opinions on whether I should attempt this? If yes, Any good guides on this topic? Would something like WRT1900AC suffice? (Current devices support G and N but I looking for longevity here)
ViperAFK
should just be a matter of setting the actiontec into pure bridged mode (the exact setting for this depends on the modem, I'm not familiar with that particular model but its usually just one setting that you have to change, if its an isp provided modem they should be able to tell you how to put it into bridged mode). If your isp uses any kind of authentication, such as pppoe you'd also have to configure your router with those authentication credentials after bridging the modem for the internet connection to work. +Red King 1 Share
