cbrookhart
I'm hoping that someone might be able to explain why with promotional credits available, only the subtotal of the item I am purchasing comes off the promotional credit. I live in NY, so I have to pay the tax when I order from amazon. For example, a recent order I placed had a subtotal of $14.27. I had to pay just $0.06, and that had to be charged to a credit card. It seems silly to charge just $0.06 to a credit card. If I make a purchase online at another site (bestbuy.com for example), the entire order is charged against a gift card. If the balance exceeds the amount of the gift card, then I pay that balance. It isn't like I have to pay the tax and shipping separate. Amazon can't really provide an explanation other than it's a requirement to collect tax on any order shipped to NY.
