Windows Phone always use real name in email (not nickname)

Recommended Posts

So, whenever I add an email to Windows Phone and use the build-in email application, it always use my real middle and last name and not the ones on the account.

I have two emails that I use regularly: my mail that I use for serious work (i.e. school related) which my real name is appropriate and then my secondary for non-serious work.

For whatever reason, Windows Phone decided to ignore whatever last name is use on the account and a lot of times, I don't want people to know my middle and last name.

For instance, I was buying two stacks of blank DVDs from a person on Craigslist and I highly doubt that he needs to know my real middle name and my real last name, but my phone gave them to him anyway.

What kinds of accounts are you using? Outlook.com?  Gmail?  Yahoo? Something else? The descriptive name is usually sent by the e-mail server for Exchange ActiveSync connections. The client sends the descriptive name for most IMAP and POP servers.

I suggest you log into the website of whatever e-mail provider you have and check your name there.

It's Gmail.

When I am log-in to the browser and sent email, my pseudo last name is used, but if I do it from the mail application, my real last name is used.
