Elliot B.
I am wanting to sell a 500 GB HDD I've had for a while. I've plugged it into my PC and within Disk Management, the drive is showing as so: 300 MB Recovery Partition (Healthy) 100 MB EFI System Partition (Healthy) 465 GB Unallocated Do I just delete the first two partitions, allocate the whole lot as one Primary Partition, then reformat the drive using a two-pass erasing utility? Aergan
Start with diskpart & clean: http://www.windowsnetworking.com/kbase/WindowsTips/Windows7/AdminTips/Miscellaneous/HowtowipeaharddriveusingDiskpartandFormat.html Then decide (with what tools at your disposal) how much of your personal data was on the disk and the number of passes you wish to perform. +BudMan MVC Posted December 31, 2014 MVC Share Posted December 31, 2014 You don't need 2 pass, single write of zero's is more than secure enough.
