New Glasses Help the Color-blind to See Greens, Reds

Recommended Posts

Decorating the house has always been challenging for Sheila Carter. Like other color-blind people, she limits her wardrobe to a few bold hues that can be easily mixed and matched, like blue and black.

But a new pair of glasses she recently started wearing, she said, has changed her worldview.

That's amazing. My brother is color-blind and I've always felt sorry for him not distinguishing a large part of the color spectrum. I'm actually really jealous of eagles and other birds that have way better vision than us.

I wonder if at some point there will be an addon so i can see blues and greens (I am blue green colour blind.

I have a lot more problems with my vision though With insurance my lenses are usually around $1000 (for both lenses) each year when i get new ones.

You should see the bill for my accommodating intraocular lens implants; $4,000 per eye.

I dont think i could ever do any surgery to put something in my eye. it would freak me out.

My vision i very poor but it is not caused my deterioration from age or anything. I have other medical issues that cause my vision problems so i have a very strong prescription and Trifocals (I'm 27) I also have Prism in each lens and due to photosensitive i have always tented glasses AND photo chromatic (transition) lenses.

The images in that article seem...off.

The poppies one makes the wearer see it more vividly than it actually is. The rainbow one seems overly vivid too. The grass seems far greener than it should be.

Interesting though.

I think perhaps it needs to be that way, in order to compensate for the deficiency?

That's still many orders of magnitude more expensive that it would be in the UK.. You guys are getting shafted, big time.

Blue/green colour blindness is rare.  I once had a teacher that was blue/green colour blind and was amazed at how weird his description of the world was.  I'm red/green and pink/grey colour blind but thankfully only have trouble with subtle shades of each.  Having said that, I'd quite like to try these glasses out to see what they do.
