Meet the Remix Ultra Tablet - A Surface with Android

Recommended Posts

Not sure if this has been posted here, but in case you haven't seen this, this is the Remix Ultra Tablet. Running a custom version of Android designed for desktop users in mind called "Remix OS", this is one very appealing Android Tablet. The tablet looks stunning, but it's design is inspired (if not copied) from the Surface Pro 3. Take a look yourself:

Most of the ports of this tablet are in very similar spots to the Surface Pro 3. You can see that even the Micro SD card slot is in almost the same spot here. The kickstand is like the Surface pro 2 where it only supports 2 angles. In this case it supports 40 and 80 degrees. The tablet lacks a full size USB port and requires you to use an OTG cable if you want to plug in your USB peripherals:

And if you still think this isn't copying Microsoft's product, take a look at the email client:

It's nearly identical to Windows 8's Mail app! As you can see above, that's not your ordinary Android running on it. It's running a custom rom called "Remix OS" which is suppose to bring a familiar desktop UI to Android. There is a taskbar like in Windows and apps can be run within windows as well. Here's a quick video showing the concept behind it:

To top everything with a cherry on top, take a look at this picture:

It looks like a Windows 8-like layout will be available as well. You can't tell me this is not somehow inspired by Microsoft.

This tablet claims to be the world's first 'Ultra' tablet, which I don't think is true. You have to take into consideration all the Windows tablet, including the Surface Pro 3. What is your guy's thoughts on this?

That UI is worse than the windows mail app -_-

Ya the Windows mail app has one of the more uglier UI's i've ever seen.

Wow! Even the keyboard connection looks just like the Surface!

Let's just hope they don't make the same mistake as Microsoft and make the keyboard a separate accessory :|

If you're going to advertise the device with the keyboard, then the keyboard some come with the device or not be overpriced!
