ReMad
Hi Vnxe 3200 supports direct connectivity for hosts But wanted to check in general when connecting server directly on iscsi ports Do i need to make ports on server nic teamed to act as one port with one ip Or two different ips ? Thanks
sc302 Veteran Posted January 9, 2015 Veteran Share Posted January 9, 2015 Ok, How I have always done it was to connect the iscsi devices to switches then to the iscsi enabled nics on the servers. I have always done redundant paths in case a nic dies or malfunctions. You don't team the ports at all, you set up the ports to be iscsi and the protocol will use the port needed. You usually have 2 ports on each card for multipaths designated by a long ipv6 looking address. You tell the iscsi cloud to use these ports (on the san/server/drive host and on the servers). You will probably want to enable jumbo frames on the ports and switches if you are going to be transfer large amounts of data/files/virtual disks between the host servers and the drive storage.
