ccoltmanm
I bought the Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter, and prior to this, a Netgear PTV adapter that does the same thing. I know these are both Miracast devices, so, it may have to do with that. I have a 1080p projector at home. When I connect my Surface 2 to the projector, via the adapter, all is well. The projector projects at 1080p, and so does the Surface. When I change the resolution on the Surface, the projector does not change resolution. Instead the adapter just scales the picture up to fill the 1080p screen. If it is 4:3, or whatever, it will scale appropriately. However, going into the settings of the projector, it is still projecting 1080p. This is fine at home, because it scales up well, however, in my classroom, where I really want it to work, not so much. That projector could go up to 1600x1200. It looks bad, but it does it. However, the adapter still wants to broadcast at 1080p. No matter what resolution I change the Surface 2 to, it will keep broadcasting at 1080p. The problem here is, no scaling happens. So, I have a small picture (Actual Pixels) that is being projected on a full 1080 screen. Bottom line, I have a small image of true pixels on a large projected screen. It is unusable. I have tried the "app" that Microsoft ships, but I can't seem to get it to work. Anyone know how I can hack into the adapter or something? The pictures I attached are my home projector, showing two resolutions on the Surface 2, but the same projector resolution. Another picture showing a different resolution than projected. ibuk
Hi, I am searching for a solution to the exact same problem. My classroom projector is 4:3 native resolution of 1280x1024 yet no matter what I do the MS adapter insists on projecting 1080p no matter what 'resolution' I have set for the second display. If I change the resolution to 1280x1024 then I get huge borders and a 'squished' image. Did you find a solution to change the internal resolution?
