Ford GT

This is awesome looking.  I want one, just don't want the eventual price tag associated with it.  This will probably be a limited production run, so it will be a collectors car.

Ford did it. They actually went and did it. It's been rumored about and speculated on for months, but now we know it's real. This is it: the new Ford GT. Ford just dropped a bomb on the rest of the world, and it's got a 600 HP twin-turbo V6, if you can believe it.

The Ford GT has always been my favorite car.

On racing games I've played throughout the years on computer and consoles, it's usually the car I use.

This new one is definitely sweet.

We truly are living in the Golden Age of automobiles right now - and its a beautiful thing.

Think about all the new models, the breakthroughs, the plethora of supercars, even hypercars.

New companies making a serious statement with their amazing products.

Before the Veyron hit the streets about 8 years ago, what was the fastest car ?  Not only that - how fast was it in comparison ?

We have 2 cars that fought for the world's fastest title, and both are coming out with something new to blow away the record breaker they already had.
Lamborghini has its most successful year in the history of the company
GM & Ford start making quality cars that people actually want.
The Corvette becomes bad ass, not just a plastic imitator.
Camaro goes retro and gets some street cred
And the market is so hot, Ford decides to bring back a $100,000+ supercar
Godzilla came to America and continued to destroy everything

I could go on and on -  it is really a cool time to be a car guy.

The doors are definitely better than the previous one, which was a face-breaker when getting in and out.

My boss owns this model. I have ridden in it and it's a blast.

Someone who lives somewhere close to my parents has a black one.  I have seen it just a couple of times, but its the sound that makes me stop whatever Im doing.

So cool they are building this - they need a real performance car - the trailer park Ferrari (Mustang GT) is cool.... if you're 17

No doubt. Those doors were the only thing I didn't like about the car. I didn't like how part of the roof was on the door.

The new one definitely has a better door design.

Yeah a family friend has one too and I was always nervous getting in and out of that thing.

Oh me too. It's hard to put your foot into the floorboard without scraping the bottom door jamb. Also watch out for the top as you close the door, if your head is not out of the way you'll get a nasty bump.

Apparently due to stringent EPA rules the v8 is being phased out of Ford's lineup.  Possibly within 3 years it will be all v6's.  Makes me sad.  The sound of the v8 beats the sound of a 6cyl, and you have room to grow with the stock v8 (superchargers, turbos, nitrous, heads, cams, intakes, and a plethora of other parts).   The v6 is already boosted, perhaps a bigger turbo, maybe some free flowing head and cam, but I don't think you are going to find 50+% gains as you do with a v8 by bolting things on.

And in 50 years all Vx or any gasoline/diesel engine will only be found in old cars as well ;p

I loved the looks of the original Ford GT40 and Ford GT, and this new one takes on a whole new design. This new design has more Ferrari lines to it, and has some subtle hints of the previous GT40/GT.

Not sure why the industry as a whole hates V8 engines going away. I am all for turbocharged & supercharged engines. The only thing you are missing is the v8 exhaust note, and perhaps you have turbo lag in some cars, but there are so many benefits. You get better fuel economy, and turbos produce torque way down low. EPS also gets a bad rep, but if designed/tuned properly, it's not all that bad.

It really is a great time to be car enthusiast, the competition is actually getting fierce. I love what N. America has done recently:

1) Hellcat - 707 HP for less than $70k? Yes please

2) Corvette C7? Beautiful, and power

3) Cadillac CTS-V? Corvette engine to compete w/ the Germans!

4) Ford GT and Shelby GT350/GT350R

5) Hennessey Venom

Then you have hypercars! I'm really digging what McLaren and Porsche have done! On top of that, you have electric cars. Tesla is killing it with the new P85D. BMW has made great progress with the i3 and i8. Chevy is making progress trying to get the $30k bolt out.

As if all that was not enough, car technology is becoming a hot topic. BMW showed off some very cool ideas at CES! Laser lights and OLED tail lights look amazing. Android Auto and Car Play seem very interesting. Driverless/autonomous technology also looks interesting - want to see how this plays out.

It's actually exhausting to keep up with everything, but I love the pace we are moving at. It feels like the last decade was a lull in comparison. Getting back on topic, this car looks great. I've already told my insider at Ford to get me a deal on this one :D
