The new year may have just begun but already there is major news to announce for theForza world: Forza Motorsport 6 is coming!

Today, at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Microsoft and Turn 10 Studios officially announced Forza Motorsport 6, which is in development and will be arriving exclusively on Xbox One. The news came alongside the announcement of the worldwide debut of the all-new Ford GT, which will serve as the cover car for Forza Motorsport 6. In addition, Ford

I hope it's a bit more engaging than F5. As much as I love simulators, I'm getting more and more into Horizon - it strikes a good balance between arcade and sim.

Well we knew about this since forever :p

it been announed Forza and Forza Horizons will be bi annual alternating releases since about FH2 was announced and known since F5.

Still cool. though I'm not sure I'll buy into forza this time, it's an awesome racing/driving sim, probably the best there is, but I much prefer the more fun driving of FH than the track driving of plain Forza.

Yep, agreed with HawkMan we all seen this coming.

I think at the very least, ignoring how its worked since forever, they have to do something this year with Project CARS knocking on the doorstep pretty damn loudly. FM5 was ok by Forza standards, I never got into it half as much as previous Forza titles. I'm sure I've said this a million times now but if CARS can pull off what it looks to be doing, FM6 is going to have to do something pretty damn special to come out on top.

FM5 was not deserving of the number entry considering the lack of content and the attempt to rip off gamers with micro transactions, so I really hope they go nuts with FM6 to make up for it

Well one thing you can expect is the advancements done in the FH2 engine to show up in FM6. Other than that I don't know what more you could want from a racing sim.

Agreed. It's difficult to imagine anything being better than FH2.

I feel the same way. I got incredibly bored with Forza 5. It got repetitive very quickly. I haven't tried Horizon though... sounds like I should pick it up?

The one thing I've always wanted from FM is a better way of Grid ordering. Its always been the same but I found starting in 14th out of 16 in every game got very frustrating more this time around. I'm not the best racer in the world, but anything other than the hardest difficulty I found I would win races pretty easily, but on the hardest difficulty the AI were at a great level, but getting to the front in 3 laps was often just too difficult.

I'd personally love to see an option to do a qualifying session, I know that might not work out for everyone, but sometimes chasing a time is just as exciting as racing. I think that's why I spent so much time in the Rivals mode in FM5.

pCars has excellent graphics, but Forza has 50x the content.

If they can get Forza 6 to be nice and optimized for the console, then I think we'll finally have a "next gen" racing sim to be really excited about.

Well given that the biggest criticism of FM5 was a lack of content I wouldn't be too sure on that. FM have developed a horrible trait of going for a "season pass" and sticking a ton more cars in via the paid route, including day one DLC. The Track list for Project CARS looks pretty nice, not see a car list yet but from the trailers they seem to have a nice mix

Content was low indeed. But we are glad they have all premium cars, added free cars and free tracks over time, and made a solid (as usual) racing game with awesome graphics. There were no ripping off gamers with micro transactions, since they were optional. Everything could be done in game without using real currency. Though it is good they changed the in game currency with an update to make things less of a grind for those that don't have the time or passion to play the game.

The problem with pCars after playing the betas....the engine is still an upgraded Shift engine. It still lacks the simulation physics, and has a twitchy arcadey feel. It is also a game with race cars only, there are no production cars. The weather, while nice, was poorly implemented with mirroring water droplets, and so far, the affect on the racing physics (what there is of them) was minimal. I think the Shift engine is holding that game back.

I have no doubt that Forza will continue to be the best racer on console with the release of Forza 6. Now if we can just get Simbin to bring out a new RacePro.

Yeah I agree that FM5 was hugely lacking.  I think they rushed the hell out of that game to make sure it was ready for launch, so they sacrificed a lot of content and graphics.  FM4 had a nice catalog, so I would expect something similar for FM6.

pCars has an okay list of tracks (still not a lot), but the cars list is really really lacking.  There are a bunch of classes, and many of them have only a few cars in each, so the variety needs a lot of work.  I believe there are around 70 cars total right now and about 20-25% of those are iterations of the same car (e.g 2012 BMW M3 GT2 & 2012 BMW M3 GT4).  Forza 4 had something like 500 cars and even Forza 5 had around 200.

I could also complain all day about how the game is barely playable right now, which is scary for how close to release they are "supposed" to be. But even if they polish the game up and make it perfect in it's current form, they need wayyyy more content to make this a desirable game over every other racing game out there.

surely this will be the same game engine as 5 just updated tracks/models

in the same way that FH2 is the same engine as FM5...

or that FH was the same engine as FM4 and FM was was the same engine as FM3...

Firstly, sorry to jump to conclusions on your original post, clearly you are more informed then I on this subject :p

It's a shame to hear what you've said, I was really looking forward to this, doesn't seem it will be the game I was hoping for.

Updated Forza 5 engine, updated physics, updated tracks, updated models, updated features, more tracks, more cars.

FM5 was obviously rushed for release, but it was still worth it and I

does the cover hint at night racing??

Well... it's not like they're suddenly going to remove features they added to the engine in FH2...

Motorcycles, thats all I gotta say.

No, Maybe for Horizons 3, but not for FM, stop diluting the Forza brand, it's already annoying enough with all the rally and extreme off road in FH2. But FH is sort of a spiritual successor to PGR, and for that gameplay it's not terribad, for a sim racer don't. Make a pure Motorcycle sim instead.
