Man Shoots Machete Wielding Intruder

Sorry for paraphrasing the headline, but the original was really long and what fit in the box didn't accurately describe what happened.

Dumbass deserved one to the crown. Put the SOB out of everyone's misery.

Looks like your standard el-cheapo birch plywood hollow core pre-hung door to me. $50 at Home Depot. A 12 year old could break through one.

Idiot on a rampage with a dangerous weapon.

Sums up what was required to stop him. If it wasn't the tenant then it would have been Local Law Enforcement, likely with loss of life after the fact (after this waste of life had killed them). The tenants' desire to protect his family saw to it that the only statistic that would increase was this Defendant getting what he had coming to him.

Justice served, without loss of life. That's a good end to this situation, in my eyes.

What was that door made out of, delivery pizza boxes?

I was wondering the same thing, it seemed to fall apart fairly easily.  I've seen those paper thin doors before, but generally they're interior doors used in mobile homes or something, not the front door.

Edit: Was probably the cheapest option for the landlord, or for the tenants, seeing as how they said the guy had done this once before, without the machete, and threatened them.

omfg that door! First thing I checked when I applied for my apartment was the door. :o

I thought the first thing you checked was if the landlord's property management software was still running on Windows XP or not.

I checked that too - it's ok, they're on Windows 7.

I feel bad that the guy who fired the shots was haunted by it, but he's way more compassionate than I would have been.  Like saying he didn't want to do it, etc.  If that happened to me I wouldn't even think twice. Granted I've never been in that situation so I may just be blowing smoke.

If all gun owners stories were like this with good regulation on ownership then more would support guns.

I agree in part.  We've got some good laws in place, but don't have the resources to enforce them.  The background check system itself is a prime example.  Good people get denied purchases occasionally due to being confused with other people with similar names, and people with criminal histories pass them due to a lack of inter-communication between local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies.

Not trying to turn this into a gun control debate, but as a gun owner/enthusiast, I thought I'd let you know this is something we can, at least partially, agree on.
