Chika.yuzki12
I recently got a new pair of speakers (Swans M10 2.1) and I was wondering that, if i get a dedicated sound card...will there be sound quality improvements? My motherboard is the gigabyte x58a-ud3r and i'm using the on-board sound card atm. I am willing to buy a new sound card, budget being $150 Thank you all in advance
+Zagadka Subscriber² Posted January 24, 2015 Subscriber² Share Posted January 24, 2015 I've never seen the need. Unless you're an audiophile/professional, onboard processors can do 5.1 surround... But you don't have to listen to me, I use a tape deck adapter in my car, so I'm not overly concerned with quality.
spaceelf
Onboard sound can have problems, but with 8 watt speakers you're not likely to get major differences out of different hardware.

You can have just as many issues with a dedicated sound card - especially when the manufacturer drops driver support/software when a new OS turns up.
