Need some advice on a fan to cool equipment

Recommended Posts

Good morning all.

I am need of a fan for a customer of mine. When they moved new cabinets and desks where built and inside one of the cabinets sits the cable router from Comcast as well as some other equipment.

This is kept behind a closed door and when I open it you can feel the heat. I told them I recommend they should put a fan that is always running but quiet if possible to cool all this.

The furniture is made of wood and so I would need the use of a fan that is larger than one that cools a PC but not as big as regular fan that you can sit on a desk. I am sure something exists where I could mount on the top and point in downwards to start cooling.

They have a power strip with several outlets available so I can plug into one of them.

Thanks

Without knowing specific dimensions, this type of fan seems to fit the bill. Fairly inexpensive and quiet, flexible on power input, and can be daisy-chained if you need more than one.

If you're mounting near the top of the cabinet space, then you might be better off blowing the warm air outwards and ensuring that there is some ventilation in the bottom of the space so that cool air can be sucked in.
