Warboy
Is anybody having issues with the software? The driver works fine. But after installing the software, I can't get the creative audio control panel or creative console launcher to recongize the card and allow me to change settings. PGHammer
Non-issue for me. I have the similar Recon3D, and I don't use the included software, even with Windows 8.1.

hobsgrg
My Creative X-Fi Xtreme Music doesn't work at all in build 9926. It's recognised and sound levels show activity but no sound. I tried uninstalling and re-installing but no luck. The settings application also doesn't work and says no hardware found. In the end I had to re-enable and use my onboard sound instead. Nogib
My Creative X-Fi Xtreme Music doesn't work at all in build 9926. To be fair though the XtremeMusic came out in 2005. Technologically pretty old and there hasn't been new drivers in years.

Nogib
10 months ago Ah, well I hadn't looked at all last year and I remember the previous one was from 2011 or so. 3 years between driver releases is pretty sad and surprising.
corrosive23
there hasn't been new drivers in years. He's talking about the hardware, not the software, thought it was fairly obvious Stupid me. Here all this time I thought drivers were software. HEY EVERYONE! DRIVERS ARE NOW HARDWARE!
Rickkins
One thing I'll mention, before I reinstalled the drivers, the stupid panel thing kept switching me from entertainment mode, to game mode, which killed all my audio... Ya may wanna check that.
Jaybonaut
Honestly when Win 10 officially hits I was likely going to finally jump from my X-fi to their Z anyway, unless they are coming out with something newer at that point.
Rickkins
Well, how do ya like that. Installed 9926 an lo and behold, nothing works to get the sound blaster x-fi working. Perhaps the most popular sound card on the planet, and it don't work. ~sigh~

Rickkins
Well, I deleted everything and tried again this morning, and it is running this morning, but no panel etc. Still, better than nothing on a system that does duty as a htpc...

neo158
I gave up on Creative when Vista came out, they had ###### poor support for Vista and when they did release drivers half the capabilities were missing, they then tried to charge users for an "upgrade" to add the missing features. I know that Vista had poor support for hardware but when a company tries to charge users to add features that were in older drivers then that's where I draw the line!!!! Not a very helpful comment but I'm just sharing my experience.

Well, I think the Z has been out for almost 2 years now so I feel as though Creative Labs' line is due for a refresh or something new. I will say though my Z has been working just fine on Win10 9926 for me (upgraded from 8.1U1).

Same here but not even recognized -worked fine up to and including build 9879 (and windows 8.1 r5) -software I use SB X-Fi Series Support Pack 3.0a (08/11/2014) by Daniel K -what does age of hardware have to do with probably one of (if not the best) price / performance / longevity cards that has come out? The issue is that the windows kernel was changed from 6.4 in build 9879 to 10.0 in build 9926 Name a better card that doesn't cost an arm and a leg with iffy software that may or may not work and is fully supported with the new kernel change and be fully functional on Windows
T3X4S
How about doing it again and again - surely what happened the 3rd time wont happen anymore.... Or you can get a new card or no add-in card and not mess with the latest build which is giving everyone problems. {just sayin}
