patseguin Global Moderator Posted January 31, 2015 Global Moderator Share Posted January 31, 2015 Anyone remember this game from the 90's? It's one of my favorites of all time. Anyone know of anything similar today? I know peoplevWill say Diablo 3 because it's isometric but the gameplay of Crusader is something I have not seen matched yet. Raa
Yes, and if you looked carefully, you would've noticed it FREE on Origin last month. Don't forget it's sequel, Crusader: No Regret.
+Asmodai MVC Posted February 5, 2015 MVC Share Posted February 5, 2015 It's under $6 and DRM-free on GOG when it's not even on sale: http://www.gog.com/game/crusader_no_remorse You can get both it and No Regret together for under $10. Enjoy!
patseguin Global Moderator Posted February 5, 2015 Author Global Moderator Share Posted February 5, 2015 I loaded it up and it didn't run right on my computer. The graphics are pretty funny though. They look so awful but I remember back when the game came out they seemed so slick. Funny how current technology changes your perception.
n_K
Who could forget that funky music (that was also pinched and used in seek and dread online for a bit);

If you're having technical problems and you got it from GoG I'm pretty sure they try to work out issues for you. I know what you mean about old games though, I had a similar experience when I went back and watch "The Last Starfighter" not to long ago. I remember LOVING that movie when it came out but when I watched it recently the CG was SOOOOO bad it just ruined the movie for me. The original Tron holds up surprisingly well though. Games were also a lot harder back then. Now games all seem to hold your hand through everything but back then you had to actually read a manual and figure things out on your own. +Asmodai MVC Posted February 5, 2015 MVC Share Posted February 5, 2015 Just as an interesting side note the designer for the Crusader games is a guy by the name of Tony Zurovec. He's currently working for his old Origin Systems coworker Chris Roberts (Wing Commander fame) on Star Citizen. Not that Star Citizen is in any way similar to Crusader but I just thought it was an interesting tidbit.
patseguin Global Moderator Posted February 6, 2015 Author Global Moderator Share Posted February 6, 2015 I'd love to see a new Crusader still isometric but with modern graphics. Definitely one of my favorites of all time. I remember Gods on Amiga being do awesome and when I look at it on YouTube the graphics look so bad.
