Lenovo steers Motorola to record smartphone sales

Recommended Posts

Motorola sold more than 10 million handsets during the third quarter of 2014, marking a new company sales record, and helping to drive new owner Lenovo to increased revenues. The figures show the impact of Motorola on Chinese giant Lenovo, the largest PC manufacturer in the world, which said it planned to make a third of its revenue from smartphone sales after it purchased Motorola from Google last year, in a deal worth $2.91 billion.

The acquisition has been beneficial for Lenovo

The title is misleading. Lenovo didn't have Motorola up until mid Quarter. Lenovo didn't steer Motorola but Motorola with Google made this possible.

most likely.  to early for lenovo to have any serious effect of motorola.     i

I think the smartest move that Lenovo has done in New Zealand was selling phones directly to the customers by leveraging their existing product channels at Noel Leeming, Harvey Norman, Dick Smith, Warehouse Stationery and so forth. Something that I think Dell and Lenovo should do in the United States - decouple themselves form the carriers so then they can control updates and upgrades being released so we don't have the likes of Verizon blocking updates and upgrades.
