Which NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 model would you go for?

Recommended Posts

I'd go with ASUS. I never had issues with their products for a long long time.

2nd'd this.

I own a 970 Strix and it performs more than okay. And never has any problems with drivers or other issues that seem to plague other cards.

I like ASUS, so I would go with the GTX970 Strix.

I am actually considering buying it myself to drive my future 34'' ultra widescreen that I am still looking for. Just need to get the management approval from home

Can't beat two monitors, for times like when you want to play a game on the left monitor (full screen) and watch a video or something else on the right one. Not really possible with one screen, even an ultra one.

Then again, ultra widescreen is pretty sexy.

I love Gigabyte, especially their customer service

The G1 edition is a fantastic overclocker due to it's power design, so that gets my vote

Just a shame about the blue windforce logo....why they didnt put rgb leds in is beyond me

I know that, and for work I cannot live without multi-monitors. However at home I have no need for two monitors, so either I'll go for a 27'' 1440p or a 34'' ultra-wide. I'm still deciding...

I have always stuck to either Asus or EVGA for my GPU's. Neither brand has ever done me wrong, and in fact I tend to try and go with EVGA these days. Just a personal preference I suppose, but they always seem to have the slightly better base models when compared to other companies, and I really love the ease and reliability of their Precision software, although it is my understanding you can also use it with non EVGA cards as well.

I have the gigabyte g1 one and i like it. But it's a very long card barely fit my Antec 9000. Had to unplug my SSDs, my sound card and some of my psu cables and also move one ssd to another bay to fit it in. Took me close to 1 hour to install.

I'd also just get the cheapest one. A few mhz isn't going to make much difference; you can always overclock it a little if that really bothers you. The satisfaction rate on the Zotac is not that high but the issues are reported on every model including EVGA, MSI, etc.

Consider the memory performance issue with GTX 970 before you buy. :)

Oh dear God when is this going to stop. It's not an issue in actual gaming performance.

It is if you use over 3.5 GB of VRAM. The final 0.5 GB is much slower.

yeah, but the point is,   the card is still great, and most people will not use that 0.5  GB

WQHD will be fine at high settings on all modern games.

so it should not stop people from buying 970 which is still a great card.

people wanting to play at  4k  should invest at 980 anyway.    going ultra high end means going high end on every component

i also suggest EVGA

never had a problem with them.

and i would pick the cheaper EVGA, unless every tiny bit of performance matter.

do the looks of the cards matter?   if so pick the one that looks the best.

The final 0.5GB is slower, but it's not an actual issue for gaming performance, as every reviewer who analysed the issue has found. See PCPer, HardwareCanucks, Guru3D, Anandtech.

+3

Only thing to keep in mind is it has only 1 pcie 8 pin connector.

I like the Gigabyte and MSI's for the multiple DVI inputs. I wish Asus would use the 3 DVI in w/1 HDMI port like those two. I prefer Asus, but inputs are more important to me.

Over the years, I've come to rely on one particular brand when it comes to graphic card.  ZOTAC is a very tough graphic card that never has ANY issue.  No crash.  No driver issue.  Never overheat.  It is one tough cookie.
