Garry Posted February 10, 2015 Share Posted February 10, 2015 Is this an NTP server you operate and manage? If so, why is it publicly accessible? It is protected in any way against malicious use? Maybe because he wants to play in pool.ntp - my ntp server is part of the pool.. While yes ntp can be exploited, its a simple setup to prevent it.. To be honest if your ntp server is being exploited its because you just didn't take 2 seconds to research how to provide that service to the public. Which is also agree is a huge problem, sure I can run my own web server, sure I can run my own nameserver - without 2 seconds thought to the implications of opening up a service to the wild west of the public internet.
