The Scarecrow Posted February 11, 2015 Share Posted February 11, 2015 Hey I have a problem and I am hoping there is a simple solution. I accidentally deleted a partition on my windows 8 laptop. When I boot I am getting not able to find boot device. Although all the files are there etc. Is there a way to boot up and recover the partition without re installing windows? Forjo Posted February 11, 2015 Share Posted February 11, 2015 Acronis Disk Director can recover accidently deleted partitions as long as you've not done anything else to it. I'm sure there are other tools as well. You'll need to boot from a CD or USB drive, however, to perform the recovery. GraveDigger27 Posted February 11, 2015 Share Posted February 11, 2015 I like to use "Boot Repair Disk" - it's a Linux-based solution that I use on my desktop and laptop system to create and delete partitions (I run multiple Linux distributions plus Windows on both systems). There is a 32-bit and 64-bit version of the disk and it's a useful tool to have at hand. http://sourceforge.net/projects/boot-repair-cd/ If you haven't done it yet, make sure that you make a Windows Rescue CD/DVD for your operating system - I've made them for Windows 7/8/8.1 and they're also good to have... Once I have it booted up I don't see any options for recovering the partition? I'm not sure what a BE disk is. But the boot CD's I've made in the past have an option called "Recovery Expert". I don't know if it's been renamed in version 12 (I have 11), but that's what you should be looking for. The boot up off that disk looks extremely similar to Acronis Disk Director 12 interface. Do I have to puchase it to get this to do what I want? No I do not have a back up of it.
