Good Twitter Program?

Recommended Posts

I have tried a few of the twitter apps that google throws up in the first few results of a search, but they all seem to be lacking something, maybe I am just used to using tweekdeck on windows, but was wondering if there are any other clients out there that are worth checking it out, I know I could just leave a tab open in chrome, but that just seems a pain

Have a phone or tablet? I know they have a lot of apps for Android as well as OSX (whatever you call that)

Wouldn't a "web app" do the job?  Most of the ones I've used tend to run independently of the main browser window anyway, and besides, the Windows client is still browser based, runs via the Chromium embedded framework.  Not going to be missing any functionality, and since you're using Chrome you'd be losing out on the Better TweetDeck addon too.  If you really want it though, totally guessing but have you tried Wine? It's just a browser under the hood after all, I'd think it would run but don't quote me.

I don't know TweetDeck, but there's a Kde Plasma widget for Twitter. Right-click on the desktop, select "Add widget", then select "Microblogging" from the list and place it on the desktop. Open the settings (the wrench icon in the small sidebar that comes out when you hover the mouse over the widget), and from the service dropdown, select the Twitter url. Enter your user name and password, how many messages to display, how often to update, and that's it!
