iPad Mini 3 vs. Microsoft Surface RT

Recommended Posts

I have a Surface RT (1st gen), which has been okay, but not brilliant.

Used to browse the web and watch a few videos, that's it really, nothing too demanding.

I won an iPad Mini 3 and will be picking it up this week, nice, new sealed.  Unknown size but I suspect it to be the base model.

Do I keep the iPad or sell it?

Things I want more than an iPad:

Play with the iPad and see if you like it. If you do, keep it. Otherwise wipe it & sell it. You might get a little less for it since you opened it and played with it, but since you won it, you'll make a profit regardless.

Don't get the Surface RT. Microsoft is no longer going to make anymore devices and will be supporting it for a few years. Better off getting an iPad Mini 2 instead of 3. You will save some money by not getting finger ID.

The OP already has a surface RT.

IMO get rid of the surface rt as pointed above, sell, sell the ipad, and buy whatever something better of your liking?

I wouldn't open the iPad if I were you.  Go play with one at bestbuy or somewhere and see how you like it.  If it's everything you ever wanted, then keep it, otherwise selling an unopened iPad will fetch more money.  I had an iPad for about a year and then sold it because I used my iPhone more than my iPad.  One great thing about any Apple device is that they fetch more money when used than you would get from other manufacturers.

Why not sell both, you sound like you'd like a bit better life from a tablet but not a heavy user, so is a casual Android tablet more to your task?

Combining the sale of both, you should have some change to splash out on...

Well, I don't think selling the RT is going to net you much income, given that it's used, and has been superseded for quite a while by the Surface 2.

You may wish to sell the iPad sooner rather than later, before rumors of the Bigger iPad has an effect on how much people are willing to pay for it.

That won't give him the freedom to explore that opening his own would. Yes, he'd get less money if he decides to sell it, but since he won the iPad, everything he gets is a profit.

Frankly, in his place I'd sell both SRT and iPad and put the money toward an SP3.
