jordan.
Hey all, I'm attempting to move some large (~60GB) files directly from one USB 3.0 external drive to another but the transfer speed is ~5MB/sec. If I copy from one USB external drive to my internal SATA drive, then from SATA to the other USB drive, the transfer speeds are significantly higher and overall the process is several hours faster. Is this normal? It doesn't make sense to me that moving through a 3rd drive would make the process faster. The files are disc images made from Acronis True Image if that matters. Cheers. fusi0n
Sounds like a weak USB 3.0 Controller.. You may be better off to just copy internally then back to the other USB drive..
Stokkolm
It's possible that the controller can only support full speed USB 3.0 from one port at a time, so when you try to go USB to USB you get some subset of the full speed.
