+longgonebn Subscriber² Posted February 17, 2015 Subscriber² Share Posted February 17, 2015 Hi, I have 3 monitors and when I turn these monitors off either manually by the buttons or using the Windows turn screens off setting, all the windows/apps that I have open move to the middle screen when I turn them back on. I can't figure out why this happens or how to fix it. Any ideas?

+longgonebn Subscriber² Posted February 17, 2015 Author Subscriber² Share Posted February 17, 2015 One is DisplayPort and the other two are Duel Link DVI. Really? That is quite annoying, bah!
Odom Member Posted February 18, 2015 Member Share Posted February 18, 2015 I have the same issue at work and at home, when using Displayport or HDMI through my AV Receiver. Seems like when you turn them off Windows thinks there is no monitor there anymore and then moves everything over. Windows also only recognizes my TV as a monitor if the AV Receiver is turned on when I boot the PC. If it is off and I want to use it later I always have to run a Detect Monitors and then it will show up properly again. At home I use Fences from Stardock, so that at least keeps my icons organised and doesn't reshuffle them every time I turn the monitors off. If there is a way around it, I'd also be interested. CG-88
Yeah no workaround unfortunately. I have four monitors and mine do the same. If I turn the top one off, the wallpaper gets squished onto the bottom three and everything moves around. lol Pain yes - unavoidable - unfortunately yes
Dick Montage
It's a logical issue. You remove one (or two) monitors from a 3 monitor setup, and Windows intelligently resolves the apps into the usable screen space. I believe there are tools that can restore things - I use Actual Multi-Monitor.
+longgonebn Subscriber² Posted February 18, 2015 Author Subscriber² Share Posted February 18, 2015 I use DisplayFusion but it does not seem to have any options for that
