Issues with drivers? Or is it Windows 10?

Recommended Posts

Well, this problem just came up on my computer. This all happened in Windows 10, Build 9926.

?I got an update on Windows Update, for my AMD driver. I tried installing it and it caused a black screen on boot though. I could get to the boot selection screen normally (due to the Windows Rollback bug), but upon selectiing the Tech Preview, it was all black. I tried rebooting, but to no avail. I did a system restore to earlier today. I could now boot, but my Start menu was gone.

?I've tried re-installing drivers, restoring to an older restore point, but nothing brings the menu back. Please help.

Thank you in advance.

this is why i installed windows 10 in a vm player if it breaks just delete the vm image and reinstall just like you would if you installing it on a computer the latest two updates were not build updates but KB files  they were preparing the update for the new build coming out in the coming months i was thinking for a moment your trying to use it maybe as a working OS and clearly its work in progress so expect these things to happen sorry if i couldn't help but i hope this short story did. :)    https://www.neowin.net/news/microsoft-has-released-three-new-patches-for-windows-10-build-9926-new-build-coming-soon

I think these problems are due to drivers that Windows update is pushing for 9926. A generic soundcard on my Win 10 laptop suddenly stopped working and no matter how many times I tried uninstall-reinstall of the driver, it didn't work. I had to download original Win7 driver from Sony to finally get it working.
