CCTV software that will run on Raspberry Pi(1)?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Is there any CCTV software that I can configure on a Raspberry Pi to show all my cameras, much like how PSS works on Windows?

I don't want the Pi to handle the camera functions, I've got a DVR for that. I just wanted to hook a TV up to the Pi and see/stream live camera footage.

Thanks

You could just install Raspbian and use VLC to view the live RTSP stream from the cameras. I have tested it with my Ubiquiti cameras and it works well.

Is the RTSP stream the IP address of the DVR?

Are your camera's individually networked, as in are they IPCam's? Mine aren't IPCam's but are wired into a networked DVR which I can access from my internet providers given static IP address. Would your suggestion fit this situation?

Does VLC also allow multiple cam views?

Thanks for the help so far.

If you can access your cameras from the networked DVR, you can just open the web browser like you do on a normal PC. Raspbian is just a lite version of Linux made for the Raspberry Pi.

I don't know enough about how your DVR software works to know what else to suggest. If it supports RTSP output, you have many options to view/handle the video streams and I can make more suggestions. What is the DVR model # and brand?

Well, I looked through the whole 181 page user manual and I don't see where it supports RTSP or any other way to bring up individual cameras by stream or IP outside of their proprietary web interface. It looks like the best you'll do is to view the video stream on the DVR's IP address from within a web browser.
