SCVMM XP Template Deployment

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

Sneaky issue that seems to have been missed but when we are attempting to deploy a Windows XP machine via template, Its not failing per say (although it might if I leave it long enough) but I've noticed it gets stuck as whilst its booting up ready to install the Integration services, its bringing up a prompt to Activate the copy of Windows. Connecting the console and manually selecting to Activate allows the process to continue although I'm skeptical of whether the Integration Services will complete correct as I've not tried to see that through yet.

From an automation and usability point of view, this is a bit of a crappy issue, I really don't want the users to have to do something manual during the process of creation if it can be achieved through answer file or something.

I've had a look at options and I can't see anything obvious but I'm hoping some of the experts we have here will maybe have came across this and have a solution?

Cheers in Advance!

Apparently my Google skills are shocking...

  • In the Unattended section, type AutoActivate = Yes.

  • Under the UserData section, type ProductID = yourProductID (your ProductID is located on the Certificate of Authenticity (COA) sticker).

https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb457088.aspx guess I'll give this a try and see
