Steam not starting? here's how to fix that

Recommended Posts

If you are like me you enjoy gaming. However, starting a few days ago, I was getting error messages that said Steam could not connect and check my internet yadda yadda right?

here's a fix. Steam by default uses UDP so go to properties on your steam shortcut and put

-tcp

in the TARGET box so mine looks like:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steam.exe" -tcp

restart Steam and you should be oolay goolay (sorry an old military term from my days meaning "good to go!")

Cheers!

Doesn't seem to be. however, on system bootup, it gives me that error. I might have to see if I can add that -tcp part at startup or just shutdown the option to boot steam on system startup.

But yes it definitely works just as well.

Added: I couldn't find a way to mess with the bootup of my system so I just deactivated the start when system boots up, forcing me to start steam by my shortcut
