VMWare Workstation Linux installation problem

Recommended Posts

Hey guys. I am trying to install this app on a laptop and for some reason it doesn't allow me to, saying that virtualization is not available (or something like that). There is a setting in the BIOS about this and it's set to Enabled, so I really don't know what could be the problem. The CPU is a Core Duo T2400.

P.S. Also, what was the last VMWare version that can be installed on a 32bit OS?

Thanks :)

You will have to restart the computer and press either F10 or DEL to go to BIOS settings.

Under Security----System Security you will find the option to enable VT.

is it enabled in there?

I know you said virtualisation was enabled but just make sure its the right one

Yes, it's enabled, if I install Windows and try vmware there, it works, so somehow I think it's a Linux issue...

Have you tried by going into Virtual Machine Settings -> Hardware Tab -> Processors [Virtualization engine - > check box [Virtualize Intel VT-x/EPT or AMD-V/RVI]]?

:) How can I do that if I can't get it to install?!

Well, your laptopt supports the VT-X feature so that isn't a problem? Perhaps your other components are not good enough? Here you have system requirements for VMware Player, they are similar to the ones for Workstation. Also, not all Linux distributions are supported! What Linux are you using?
