Custom computer - mouse not working on startup

Recommended Posts

I have a wireless keyboard and mouse (logitech) to go with a custom built computer. Lately, when turning on the computer, the mouse doesn't work. Even when I turn the mouse over and press the connect button, it still doesn't work. I'm finding that I have to take the batteries out and put them back in followed by pressing the connect button in order to get the mouse to work.

The batteries in the mouse are still good, based on the green light that shows when I turn the mouse over. The keyboard batteries need replacing soon, but I'm not sure that has anything to do with the mouse function.

I'd really like to find out what is causing the mouse to not work.

Have you tried reseating or even better moving the receiver to another USB port, or how does it connect to the computer?

Try replacing the batteries in both devices as well as the above post, if the symptoms persist, an RMA may be involved

(Assuming the mouse is still under warranty)

Just moments ago, I turned on the monitor and it displayed no signal. Computer was still on. I moved the mouse around and clicked the buttons --- desktop did not come up. I pressed the connect button on the mouse -- desktop did not come up. I pressed the keys on the keyboard --- desktop did not come up. I pressed the connect button on the keyboard --- desktop did not come up. I replaced the batteries in the keyboard --- desktop did not come back up.

I was forced to do a hard restart. Upon doing so, Windows update displayed a status indicating it was configuring updates. I had hoped that since I had a Chrome tab open, that Chrome would allow me to restore the browsing session. That didn't happen, so I've lost the webpage I had up.

I really don't understand why this is happening. It's almost like the computer is stuck in power save and nothing except for a hard restart will bring it back online,

Go to Device Manager, then expand the keyboard and mouse.  Check the Power Management tab in the Properties.  Is the checkbox marked to allow this device to wake the computer?

Have you checked the Logitech software to make sure your keyboard and mouse are linked properly?
