In 2014, Microsoft took the bold step to make Windows free for devices under nine inches which spurred an influx of low-end Windows devices to hit the market. These devices typically cost under $200 and feature entry-level specs with low resolution displays.
If you have ever used one of these devices, you will know that edge gestures are a mixed bag of being recognized or ignored by the device. In Windows 10 build 10031, a new feature that has been added is targeted at improving edge gestures on entry level devices.
Thanks to a leaked document that details the changes in build 10031 for key partners of Microsoft, we can see the changes included in the latest build to make its way outside the walls of Redmond. The documentation is posted below with the specific change.
There are no other design changes in this build but there is a new feature that will display a warning dialog and/or toast message if the device runs out of space while installing an update. You can check out all the changes at the source link below.
Thefeature has been implemented in this specific build but if feedback does not meet expectations, it could be pulled before the next public release or before the platform reaches RTM. For those of you who hope to use Windows 10 on a low-end device, this implementation is likely to improve the end user experience.
