cosrocket
I am looking for a new desktop PC and I am going to choose between these 2...the Dell Inspiron 3000 would cost $656 or the Dell XPS 8700 for $640. I will be installing a Samsung 850 Pro or EVO ssd in either one. I will be using it for going online, Microsoft Office, light Photoshop. I don't do any video editing now, but I might do some light video editing in the future. Following are links of the specs: http://www.dell.com/us/p/xps-8700/pd?oc=fddngp104rs&dgc=BA&cid=285111&lid=5447194&acd=12309209382360120 http://www.dell.com/us/p/inspiron-3847-desktop/pd?oc=fdcart220h&dgc=BA&cid=285111&lid=5447194&acd=12309209382360120 Basically the differences between the 2 are the Inspiron 3000 has 16GB of ram and Intel HD graphics, and the XPS 8700 has 8GB of ram and the NVIDIA GeForce GT 720 1GB DDR3 graphic card. Otherwise they pretty much have the same specs. I would appreciate your input on which system you thing is the better one. Thanks.
guitmz
uh.. the one with offboard GPU is better and its also cheaper, no idea why unless the extra 8gb of ram justifies 300 bucks or am I seeing things? hahaha anyways thats it Nogib, SouthGate and Draconian Guppy 3 Share
Andre S. Veteran Posted March 10, 2015 Veteran Share Posted March 10, 2015 The 8GB one has a 260$ special rebate. It's obviously the better choice.

Plus, an extra 8GB kit of 1600 wouldn't cost anything like $300. I mean alright, mixing RAM isn't ideal but it should work fine.
cacoe
XPS 8700 is better, throw in an SSD and you're golden.

Dude build your own :-) It is a fun activity and gives a personal statement as a PC lover as it is your baby. True you won't get as many economies of scale but you wont have a piece of garbage power supply or case. ASrock and even Asus make great boards that are entry level if cash is a concern. If you build your own you can select quality AMD boards (lacking in the OEM world) and chips to cut down on cash for your Sansdisk pro and have a cool case.
