Survey by Microsoft asking input on icons...

Recommended Posts

if you sign up for "The Feedback Lab"  there is a survey  asking opinion on icons, you get to state what you like and dislike about each style...probably will be pretty interesting to what comes out of this considering so many people are very outspoken about the current look of the icons.

Much much better than the garbage they've included in the latest builds

exactly as I was thinking, better pc icon w/ thinner bezel, better drive icons, and the folder icons are way better than the flyout look ones..

its from a survey done for Feedback Lab for Microsoft. titled "What do you think of these computer screens?" was about a windows 10 style and a vista/7 style with questions about thoughts on the icons, you could also highlight areas you disliked..which was pretty cool.

These have to be the ugliest icons I've ever seen. Hell they're so bad, I'm ready to switch to Mac OS computers.

They are indeed much much better but still not a fan of forced perspective and insane aliasing.

The new icons look much nicer; although the new folder icons stand out a bit because the content in the folders is coming out the opposite direction from which the other icons are tilted, which looks a bit jarring (personally prefer the Vista folder style, but that is just me). Sadly, I will be unable to communicate my impressions to MS because I was unable to get into this feedback program, but hopefully I will be able to do it once the new builds with the new icons roll out.

was lucky I guess to be able to voice opinion, like you, was fine with vista icons had no prob w/ them, find that these folder icons are better than last few we have seen because of direction of content, all in all getting better...but vista/7 icons were fine except for some odd old ones that needed to be updated.

These icons are a major improvement over the ones we've been seeing on recent leaks.I hope people participating on the evaluation are not retards so we don't end up with hideous icons.

The style is the same including the color scheme just slightly different, slightly less ugly. However, they are still really ugly.

I still would like to see a version of what the desktop icons look like in the Flat style with file previews going down for the folders instead of left to right, but those isometric icons for the desktop are much nicer.

I actually prefer the latest icons. They all match. Simple is the new modern: no gloss, no (or very minor) shading.

Here they are again!:

Say thanks in part to iOS.

Huh? Now I'm pushing Metro and you're not; we've swapped sides at the same time! :)

These icons are absolutely terrible. It reminds me of 3d versions of Windows 98 icons.

Don't worry, if you don't like them you can still use the universally hated recycle bin icon version.
