PC Monitor

What is a really good IPS PC Monitor ? I currently have a 20 inch NEC Multisync 20WMGX2 monitor and want something just as good if not better please. Thanks.

Looking at 24 inch I guess. Is that a worthy upgrade?

I think 27" 2560x1440 is the sweet spot these days so this one:

And if you want to stick to 24" or maybe even 25" then either one of these:

Out of those 3, I would go with the 25" Dell.

What about the NEC Display MultiSync EA244WMi-BK? Is that one any good ?

What do you need it for, design, or gaming?  both? Do you want a 16:10 or 16:9?  I have a Dell U2410 that has 1 billion colors.  It looks so good, that its almost impossible for me to use a TN monitor.   Even my old Dell 2405fpw looks better than most new monitors released today.  I can play games on it very well, it has a good response time(6ms).  The new Dell U2415 seems to have only 16 million colors for some reason.  Think they changed the model numbers around for their high end ones.

Dell U2413 is the newer model of mine, and an improvement, might be able to find it on sale.  It was released in 2013, again, not sure what this years equivalent Dell UltraSharp model is, because its not the U2015, as that one has only 16 million colors.

The Acer XB270HU is pretty much the holy grail of PC Monitors right now, with 27" diagonal, 144hz refresh rate, G-Sync, an IPS panel and QHD resolution.

Also, if you have the space, you could always look at the ultrawide monitors, my recommendations would be:

29" size - LG's models (29UB65, 29UM65), can see my sig for my review on the 29um65

34 size - Samsung LS34E790OC, expensive but... it seems like the best all round compared to the IPS panels by AOC, DELL and LG, unless you need much better viewing angles and colour accuracy

Good review on the Samsung:

As mentioned above, we really need to know your budget and usage though!

THIS!

Although, only thing that would be stopping me from getting it is that it's by ACER = cheap build and TERRIBLE customer service

ASUS have a screen with more or less the same specs coming in June at the earliest but with freesync, although their customer service isn't much better.... Plus it will probably cost more than the ACER.

What is PRAD?

Review site, here is the review of the NEC:

Stick with 2x 24" over 1x 27" (or 1x ultrawide) as you can do things such as run a game fullscreen in the first monitor and have a maximised browser (as just an example) in the second.

Good luck trying to do that without hassle with a single monitor, even an ultrawide one.

Some very decent options are:

  • Dell U2414H (1920x1080) (24")

If you run a game on a monitor, it'll want to try to run fullscreen across the whole screen.

How would I make it only fullscreen to one side? (windowed doesn't count)

Windows doesn't have the option; only for windows, not fullscreen applications. I'm guessing it's custom LG software

Just interested! :)

Unless the monitor itself has ways to deal with this.  Which the Ultrawide does. :)

I used to have a Dell 24'' Ultrasharp and can highly recommend them. Had that monitor for 13 years.

Since last week I have the Dell 34'' Ultra-Wide and I can never go back to 24''. The higher you go in the resolutions, don't forget that if you do any gaming you need to have better and better hardware as well.
