UI. The frikkin UI.

The UI is a complete mess. It's inconsistent, broken, confusing and ugly. Most people are basing their opinions on the UI itself. I had hoped that for once Microsoft gives us a perfectly straightforward pleasing UI from the get go and then go around fixing behind the scenes stuff which most testers do not care about.

Right now it appears that Microsoft still doesn't have a clue what to do with the UI. Whether to go down that tried and failed/hated Metro/Modern path or Bring back the Windows 7 UI elements.

It's so late in development that by now the UI should have been final and locked down. They are still asking people about basic things like icon theme and transparency.

The current negative hype around Windows 10 is based solely on this.

One fix is to update the font size manually from 9 to 10 for all drop-down items. (Title bars, menus, etc..) 

That's under "Control Panel\Appearance and Personalization\Display" and then "Change only the text size"  

 

I've noticed the notification bar now doesn't re-size 1 pixel after it has slid from the side.
