Windows 10 will kill the Surfaces. No one wants a surface pro with windows 10. it's unusable on 2-in-1. - Commenter, Thurrott.com

I know it's a beta, pre-release, but how much is Microsoft really willing to bet on touch and the 2 in 1 strategy again. They have seriously hindered the touch experience.

Here is what I think they should do:

1. On Windows Small Tablets (that are currently running full Windows 8.1):

Create a mini-desktop when the device runs in touch mode to keep some of the desktop functionality, like windowed desktop apps, ditch the desktop background, taskbar, system tray, that should all be in touch mode. No file explorer either, create a touch mode one.

2. On current RT Devices:

Upgrade them to Windows 10 for phones and tablets, keep full-blown Office in the mini-desktop.

3. For any device in touch-mode:

Allow the snapping of the Start Screen, instead of that blank screen in Windows 8.1, OR do Task View

4. For any device in touch-mode:

Hide the taskbar enable with a double swipe up, same with the title bar, do a double swipe down.

5. For any device running touch-mode:

Swipe in from the left edge should switch between apps doing the swipe back in should then open taskview, do not remove the swipe in from the left side as a way to switch apps.

6. For any device with touch mode off:

Allow programmable hot corners.

7. For any device running Windows 10 for mobile devices:

Get rid of the hamburger menu, it should be a swipe to the right to open the hamburger, so you don't have to reach up and tap it.

8: Revamp folder permissions

9. Allow drag and drop and responsive residing of Modern apps, even so calculator is as small as the classic calculator.

10. Convert Paint, Snipping Tool, and Regedit to MODERN WINRT apps.

They should also add a screen recorder and Movie Editor, Regedit should use the column view like in OSX. It would make navigation easier.

What do you think?
