Sir Topham Hatt
Can anyone confirm if their iphone headphoens work in a standalone mp3 player? When plugged in to my Creative Zen player, they give... well, sort of a bathroom effect that is clearly mono. However, when pushing the mic button down, it somewhow bridges the connection and I get full stereo bass. I know the mic channel is different but I would have thought the signal from the MP3 player would be the same with whatever headphones are used. Tried with standard headphones and it's fine. As I bought the phone just after Christmas, I could take the headphones back and get some new ones but if this is a "feature" of the headphones then there isn't any point. cooky560 Veteran Posted March 23, 2015 Veteran Share Posted March 23, 2015 Apple headphones have unusual wiring, that's why companies like Sienheiser offer "iphone ready" headphones and non iPhone headphones.

Go figure that Apple ignores global standards, again...
BinaryData
Mine generates static/popping sounds, and I have been shocked through mine. I have the iPhone 6+ for my work phone. Worst decision ever.

Uh seeing as a headphone jack outputs +/- 1.5V (and low power), no you did not get shocked.

That's what it felt like, all I know is, I ripped that out as fast as I could. They work just fine on my Desktop at home, my iPhone, my iPad, etc, but my work laptop they suck. audiomaniac
Hi, I have the same problem. But the headphone works fine with the phone. It is not your headphone’s problem . It is wired that way. I bought this sennheiser headphone from Bay bloor radio near my home in Toronto. It works fine with my phone and my mp3 player. You have to use another headphone for your mp3 player.
