Verizon opens pre-orders for Samsung's Galaxy S6 and S6 edge

Last month, Verizon finally began to sell Google’s Nexus 6 – months after its rivals began selling the device. True to form, Big Red is late to the party once again in offering Samsung’s new flagships, the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge.

The delay hasn't been quite so severe this time around, though, as Verizon is only a few days behind its competitors in launching the new handsets. The carrier is now accepting pre-orders for the S6 and its unusual ‘edge’ variant, which features a unique display that curves around both the left and right edges of the device.

Prices start at $199.99 on a two-year plan for the entry-level 32GB Galaxy S6. If you’d prefer not to pay such a chunky sum up front, you can opt for a Verizon EDGE plan, which allows you to pay for the device in 24 monthly payments of $24.99. If you’ve got some cash burning a hole in your pocket, you can instead choose to pay the full handset price of $599.99 in one go.

Of course, the Galaxy S6 edge is the more exciting option, although inevitably, it will set you back a bit more than its more ordinary sibling. The S6 edge starts at $299.99 on a two-year contract; $699.99 at full price; or 24 monthly payments of $29.16.

The top of the range Galaxy S6 edge, with 128GB of onboard storage, is the priciest option in the group, with an off-contract price of $899.99.

If you’re shopping around for the best deal, you might also want to consider buying the Galaxy S6 or S6 edge on T-Mobile, which is giving away a free one-year Netflix subscription with each purchase of the devices.
