The mere mention of "XP" makes him angry.

^this

I think XP swapped his sugar with salt....his criticism is both vindictive and personal.  It must have been a long 6 years for him, between XPs release and Vistas.  What a terrible OS...coin toss between using it or Windows 3.1.

I never quite understood why people say things like that; it just cannot be an honest statement.

No one in his or her right mind would rather use an operating system that is so old that it not only can't run on modern hardware and lacks compatibility with modern software, but also can't even run most applications developed at the turn of the century. Ridiculous.

I guess I should have used /s...but really didn't think I needed to.  Not sure why you took it as a serious comment because as you said...it is "ridiculous".

However, knowing how much Dot hates the start menu...I wouldn't put it past him since 3.1 didn't have one.  /sarcasm

I'm sorry, jjkusaf. I thought you were serious because a) sarcasm depends mostly on auditory inflection, and b) I have read similar comments made by other members who have stated that they were serious when they made the comments.

At any rate, I only took the comment so seriously because I thought that you said that you would rather use Windows 3.1 instead of Windows Vista . . .

oh no...that wasn't me.  I have Vista running a small HTPC in the bedroom and haven't had any issues with it.   :)

I've liked every progression of Windows except for ME (Mr. Crashy Crashy on my computer) and 8x (my reasons are well documented).  Each version has been an improvement over its predecessor, for me at least, except the two I mentioned.

I admit that I get aggravated at some people because of their constant bashing of a legacy OS, which had a great run and brought the NT kernel and other innovative features to the masses.  I just do not get it, it is like bashing Windows 3.1 even though your previous alternative was MS-DOS (excluding Windows 1.0, 2.0 and Non-MS systems).  Obviously, Vista, 7 and 8x are better...but they're also newer. XP was superior to Windows 9x and arguably better than 2K; which wasn't marketed to consumers.  It also seemed like the "year of Linux", which I remember vividly during the late 90s, fizzled away in the years after XPs release.  After the issues I had with ME, I had even pondered putting Red Hat on my primary computer after using it for a bit on a secondary computer.  XP changed that and Linux was never installed (aside from virtualization and a small NAS) on my computer.

Obviously XP shouldn't be installed on any new computer...and computers running XP should be upgraded if financially feasible.  If anything, Microsoft should be bashed for XPs longevity which caused consumers and businesses to have an over reliance of this 14 year old OS.

Oh come. It was perfect for the matrix. Notice how it always progressed even when the time increased in the transfer bars.

Not to mention it is superior OS. Reason why is 7 looks funny. Ask any grandma? The sole way to judge an OS is for that green hill and blue title bar like the shape of 3d blue platic. Who cares what's underneath

It's like I've gone back in time and accidentally watched a College Humor video.

And then continued on to waste four more hours on random College Humor videos.
