cant connect to Xfinintywifi

Recommended Posts

I have a Windows Phone 8.1 on Lumia 930. I can't online when connect to any xfinity wifi hotshot. I have Comcast but can't get online with any hotspot. Does anyone have this issue? I have same issue with Lumia 925 and 635.

Hmm. I can connect on Surface Pro 3 and Lumia 521. Did you try Cable Wifi? That is one for all cable providers (shared).

have you been able to use it before. when you first join xfinity wifi it usually prompts you to enter your email and password for your xfinity account via the browser on your phone

Have you tried connecting via standard WiFI (not the XFINITY app)?

The Xfinity app will connect to my eMTA, but NOT my Netgear router, which I use with Xfinity HSI.  (Yes - the cable modem and eMTA, in my case, are completely separate.)

most likely you not doing the captive portal part of the login process..  As stated you have to give your account.  I have hit a few that access doesn't work through as well.  If its your device that is broadcasting the xfinity wifi ssid, did you reboot it?  If its some random one in you area try a different one.

That is indeed why it connects to EMTAs with Xfinity branding (custom firmware that the Xfinity app recognizes - the same applies to the desktop and Android software).   My home router is a Netgear WNDR3700v4 that belongs to me (and has factory firmware - NOT Comcast-sourced firmware).  I have the Xfinity software on both notebooks and my Android tablet entirely BECAUSE all three are mobile - I can thus connect to any router or EMTA with Comcast-sourced firmware (this also includes Comcast Business EMTAs that participate in the Xfinity Wifi Network) - my desktop, on the other hand, has no need for such software (due to a wired gigabit lashup to my home router).
