Joni_78
I'm looking for new Blu-ray drive for my HTPC. Anyone have a good suggestion? What I need is, watch Blu-rays and maybe backup some to HDD. I don't have any idea if these drives have some copy protections nowadays that I should avoid.
goretsky Supervisor Posted April 6, 2015 Supervisor Share Posted April 6, 2015 Hello, I have had good results with ASUS, LG, Panasonic (Matushshita) and Pioneer BD-R drives. Regards, Aryeh Goretsky
+BudMan MVC Posted April 6, 2015 MVC Share Posted April 6, 2015 I just got this one a while back http://www.amazon.com/LG-WH16NS40-Internal-Blu-ray-Rewriter/dp/B00E7B08MS Been happy with it - I wanted the mdisc support most of all. I can tell you I didn't have any problems backing up a bluray to hdd for example. But that was a limited sample test, not up to speed on all the different types of protection in place. But I was able to play the movie off of it, and was able to rip it to hdd and watch that as well. 62$ seems like a fair price point to me, for what I do with it which is pretty much burn archive copies of my home videos/pictures to it. goretsky 1 Share
philcruicks
I've also got an LG Blu-Ray reader and find it great would happily recommend it (mines about 3 years old so won't bother with a model number/link). goretsky 1 Share
