MikeM97
Hi again , friends . I want to buy some new headphones but I ran in to a big problem ... It seems I have no idea about what kind of jack do I need [ 3,5 mm or 6,3 mm one ? ] I've checked out my motherboard producer specifications buit it only says : '' - HD Audio Jack: Line in / Front Speaker / Microphone '' and my VIA HD Audio driver won't help me at all ... There must be a way to find out ... Anticipated thanks .
Nick H. Supervisor Posted April 16, 2015 Supervisor Share Posted April 16, 2015 I could be wrong on this, but I would be amazed if it was a 6.3mm jack. 3.5mm jacks are standard on mobiles, laptops etc. I don't think I have any equipment anymore that has a 6.3mm jack, but you would be able to tell the difference because of the size of the input port. If it's chunkier than your headphone port on your phone, you'll want a 6.3mm jack. MikeM97 1 Share
MikeM97
Danke , Nick ! I'll try to connect my headphones on my LG L3 II E430 and I'll see the answer .
iogbrideau
I'd be surprised if it's not 3.5mm, it's been standard for many years and I haven't seen 6.3mm jacks in a decade except on specialized stuff.
Radium
Computers and many other things use 3.5 mm. 6.3 mm is used in production such as radio and music. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phone_connector_(audio)

trag3dy
Either way it doesn't matter too much. You can get get 6.3mm > 3.5mm or 3.5mm > 6.3mm extensions. They are fairly cheap ($2-3 or less). Usually if headphones are 6.3mm they'll come with an extension though. http://www.cablestogo.com/product/40639 http://www.cablestogo.com/product/40636

Mockingbird
Most likely 3.5mm. I've never heard of a motherboard with a 6.35mm audio.
MikeM97
It is a 3,5 mm jack . Here's a 6,3 model [ as one of you said , used for music producing , radio , etc . ] :
