According to the Costa Rican Amphibian Research Center, Dr. Brian Kubicki, who photographed the frog, is excited to share the news about a "species of glass frog, Hyalinobatrachium dianae, from the Caribbean slopes of Costa Rica." Glass frogs are found in parts of South and Central America. Their skin is so translucent that you can see their organs. Kubicki said the new species is clearly different due to its colouring and the distinctive sound of its call. Including this new discovery, Costa Rica has 14 types of glass frogs. http://www.cbc.ca/news/trending/frog-discovered-in-costa-rica-resembles-kermit-1.3041912 Syanide and +E.Worm Jimmy 2 Share

You're creeping up on 23,000 posts here and most of them are negative, straight trolling and most offer nothing at all to the thread. I'm surprised you've lasted this long in all honesty. :shocker: MikeM97 and Aergan 2 Share

NightmarE D
Grow a funny bone, stop trolling and may I suggest getting that giant chip of your shoulders, it's not healthy to carry such heavy loads around for long. I have a funny bone, but saw no joke Not a troll at all No heavy chips on my shoulders. Just a guy that is pointing out the obvious. I'm not the first that's called out your constant negativity (you purposely keep it right under what would be seen as trolling to keep from getting warned often or banned and you act like your post count gets you some honor points) and I'm sure I won't be the last. I stick by everything I said. You're creeping up on 23,000 posts. Most of which are useless and negative in nature and you know it. Your post count doesn't make you special to me like you want everyone else to see you as. I see that number and the contents of your posts and see someone who thinks way too highly of a number of posts. It doesn't make you anything special or untouchable. You do use it to your advantage because you know very well that others see that number as meaning you're something special (no idea why) and you use it to your advantage when it comes to mods. Don't try to deny that. If a mod were to get tired of your troll-ish comments and issued a warning or a ban and you deserved it, you'd use your post count in a heartbeat to try and get out of it. Who knows, probably already have. I'll just put you on ignore from now on. I should have done that a long time ago honestly. Can't stand a know-it-all who thinks their poo don't stink. Go ahead and return with a comment that is on the verge of trolling, but not quite. I won't see it or actually care at all. Already feel sick to my stomach that I've wasted time typing this out. Oh well. I point out the BS in the world and always will. Don't like it? Tough.
Unobscured Vision
A very interesting find. And check out the translucency of its' body! No wonder that it's parent species is called the "Glass Frog", my goodness. It's a sure bet that these little guys and gals are quite sensitive to any and all toxins or pollutants in their environment too (thin skin means they can't tolerate stuff getting on them, etc). Very fragile, in other words.
DocM
Transparency comes from a lack of pigmentation, and mostly the belly skin of a glass frog is transparent. Transparency in land critters is more common in insect wings and eye lenses. OTOH, many water critters feature body transparency; jellyfish, salps, glass catfish etc. and of course eye lenses just as on land.
