Duplicate icons on taskbar and snapping issues on second monitor and other bugs I have in 10061

Recommended Posts

So for probably the past three builds I've had this annoying bug where when I open steam or in my case Shroud of the Avatar (non-steam version launcher) it has a duplicate icon that serves no purpose. When you close steams main window the duplicate icon stays on the taskbar unless you completely close steam or you force restart Windows explorer. Has anyone else experienced this?

Also I seem to have a bug where when I try to snap a window to full screen on my second monitor it makes it too large so the very bottom of it goes under the taskbar. I can get the issue to go away if I disconnect and reconnect the display but I'm not really sure what causes it. EDIT: I think it happens when I restart windows explorer to fix the other bug lol.

yes, i've had this happen a few times. I've reported it so MS should know about it

hopefully it should be fixed by RTM

about your snapping issue. I don't use multi-monitors at home so I can't really test that

Yeah there have been several bugs lingering for several of the builds that I'm honestly surprised haven't been fixed already the duplicate icons being one of them. One issue they did finally fix was ads being misaligned in games like microsoft sudoku basically making them unplayable. Also some drivers in Windows update failing over and over but I found if you uninstall the program associated with the driver it seems to fix the problem in my case ELAN Input. Most of the bugs are minor annoyances. A new bug they introduced was if you make the start menu full screen and then turn it back into regular start menu it gets all messed up.

I'm having a similar issue to yours with the full-screen on 2nd monitor were the application window goes behind the taskbar. It did this when I first installed 10061 but went away after a reboot, but it's back again after logging off last night then logging in this morning- no reboot. Another odd thing with that is if I go to the taskbar properties and un-check the "Show taskbar on all displays" box, the taskbar disappears from the 2nd monitor but maximizing application windows on the 2nd monitor act as if the taskbar is still there and don't expand full screen.

Summary:

- with taskbar shown on all monitors, apps on 2nd monitor maximize behind task bar;

- with taskbar only shown on main monitor, apps on 2nd monitor maximize to where the top of the taskbar would be were it there.

I found out I can fix the window hiding bug by changing resolution back and forth as well. Oh another small bug I forgot to mention. How the crap do I get rid of this off of my start menu?
