Rollback 10061 to 10049 (can't access settings)

Recommended Posts

Weird problem when I installed 10061, none of the windows apps launch including the settings (desktop apps work fine), also the start menu and a few other things don't work. Would like to go back to 10049 but as the settings app won't launch I can't get to the recovery section.

Anyone know how to initiate a roll back using cmd or any other way?

Cheers :)

Try doing a ctr+alt+del to go to security screen and there click on the power button on lower right and, while holding SHIFT, press restart.

This should get you to the recovery screen.

Let's see if this can help:

Run CMD as admin: Win + X + A

Type or copy-paste the following commands (right-clicking or tapping and holding inside Command Prompt window opens a menu with Paste command, keyboard shortcut Ctrl+V does not work there) and press Enter key after each one:

powershell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $Env:SystemRoot\WinStore\AppxManifest.XML
powershell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $Env:SystemRoot\camera\AppxManifest.xml

Yo!

Try the following:

  • Open regedit.exe from the start menu
  • Navigtate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsSelfHost\Applicability
  • Right click and edit BranchName to fbl_impressive
  • Edit ThresholdRiskLevel to low
  • Edit Ring to WIF
  • Edit ThresholdOptedin to 00000001
  • Edit ThersholdInternal to 0

After that, open Command Prompt as Administrator and type the following one-by-one:

  • net stop wuauserv
  • net stop bits
  • net start bits
  • net start wuauserv

Now go to Windows Update and Check for updates
